Introduction
President Chiang Ching-kuo made an indelible contribution to the development and modernization of Taiwan. During those critical years, thanks to his outstanding leadership, Taiwan successfully transformed its economy and moved from martial law and authoritarianism to democracy and openness, establishing the model of the “Taiwan experience.” During his time in office, Chiang Ching-kuo was also known for his diligence and love for the people.
The Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange will organize an international symposium to mark the 112th anniversary of the birth of Chiang Ching-kuo. The symposium will be organized around the themes of foreign affairs, economic affairs, and domestic affairs, and will invite scholars and experts who worked with Chiang Ching-kuo or who have carried out in-depth research on Chiang Ching-kuo to participate in the discussion on challenges faced by Chiang Ching-kuo’s administration such as diplomatic setbacks, economic reforms, and democratic reforms. We will also invite young scholars to participate in the symposium to enable the next generation of scholars to learn about Chiang Ching-kuo’s administration and promote future research on Chiang Ching-kuo.
