User Services at the Chiang Ching-kuo Presidential Library

  1. This Notice is issued by the Chiang Ching-kuo Presidential Library to provide access to the resources and facilities of the library and maintain the quality of the environment for accessing and viewing library materials. 
  2. The purpose of the library is to promote academic research in Chinese studies and Taiwan's development experience. The library also preserves documents, manuscripts, photographs, books, and archives related to the life of President Chiang Ching-kuo. In order to maintain the integrity of the collections, materials may only be used within the library. 
  3. Users can enter and leave the library's reading areas and access the library's collections and facilities with their library card. 
  4. The following individuals are eligible to apply for a Library Card: 
    1. Scholars (including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and post-doctoral researchers) as well as Ph.D. and MA students doing research in the humanities or social sciences at Taiwanese or overseas universities, or researchers of equivalent rank at other academic institutions (including retired scholars).
    2.  Individuals with outstanding professional achievements in Taiwan or overseas.
  5. The application form can be downloaded from our website or completed online. After completing the form, the applicant should upload or send it to the library together with  relevant supporting documents and a recent one-inch photo. After the library has approved the application, a library card will be issued. 
  6. Library cards are valid for five years. Users with expired library cards should contact library staff by email, attaching their original library card and an identification document to update their details. 
  7. The library is open from 9:00 am. to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It is closed on weekends and national holidays. Library closures may also be announced for inventories, facility maintenance, or events. 
  8. Library users must be neatly dressed, keep quiet, and present their library card when entering. Except for stationery and devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptop computers, and e-readers, other items such as backpacks, bags, food, drink, etc., may not be brought into the library. 
    1. Self-service lockers are available for users to store their personal belongings. 
    2. Users who wish to bring reference books or any other items into the library must first obtain permission from the front desk and register the items before bringing them into the library. 
    3. The library is not responsible for the safekeeping of personal items brought into the library by users. 
    4. Users should voluntarily present their belongings when leaving the library. If necessary, library staff may ask to check items that are taken out of the library. 
  9. The library displays books, periodicals, newspapers, and other materials in the reading rooms. Users may make copies for their own reference but may not take these items out of the reading room. 
  10. Users must take care of the library facilities and materials to ensure that all users can benefit from them. Users will be held liable for damage or defacement of library materials and damage to library facilities. In the case of a major incident affecting public safety, the incident will be reported to the police in accordance with the law. 
  11. Users may use the computer equipment provided by the library to consult library catalogs and databases. However, the computer equipment provided by the library may not be used to connect to electronic bulletin boards, send or receive personal emails, access pornographic websites, play computer games, or for other uses that affect the information security of the library. 
  12. Users should keep quiet in the reading rooms and ensure electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptop computers, and e-readers are set to silent mode. It is forbidden to make noise in the library so as not to disturb other users. 
  13. If users violate rules 7 to 11 above and still fail to comply after a warning, the library may revoke the user’s access rights in serious cases. 
  14. This Notice is effective from Chiang Ching-kuo Presidential Library. This also applies to amendments to this Notice.
